With the job market so unstable, those of us who have jobs are are fortunate.

While this is a good thing, you still need to have a backup plan.

All my married life I worked two or more jobs/careers.

When I did not have either going for me, I ended up having to work 2 to 3 part-time life draining jobs.

Now that I have full-time work and a two hour commute, there is no additional time to work a part-time job so my spouse and I started this web site, and WOW!

Aug 1, Cash For Clunkers - Recipe for Success

Cash for Clunkers, appears to be a recipe of raging success!

While to the general public any government give away is a good thing, the benefit to all is stimulating the economy, keeping jobs and growing GDP. This program is doing just that!

But within this so-called stimulus are the dealers who, by following the government 136 pages of rules and 42 pages on how to submit, are up to their necks in unpaid deals and have to spend additional money just to get the deals to Uncle Sam. However, before any of them have received any reimbursement, the program ran out of money!

Success or disaster? We'll see.

A lot of good dealer principles are biting their nails on this.

This program stands to make or break many a starving car dealer.

My question is if there are close to 200 pages of Cash for Clunker rules to follow what will be the recipe of rules for Obama Health Care?

Hmm... the answers my frends are blowing in the wind... so listen carefully and call the White House opinion number, 202-456-1111.

It's not a done deal if you say it is not done. Your ELECTED LEADERS need to know!

Jun 28, What is your recipe for success Here is a Shining Example for Generation G and all who follow...

As members of USAA, Chris and I were surprised to learn that the pilot who saved 155 lives that fateful day in the Hudson river on January 15, 2009 was also a member of USAA.

Our education has been life-long and in order to get where you want to be in life you can never get enough education regardless of your upbringing. The key is knowing when and where to apply it.

Our recipe for success in life has always been a learning experience in that we always look for meaning in what we do and we study it until we are confident and successful. Captain Sullenberger III, exemplifies this process and, when you add it all up, the landing of his aircraft and the saving of lives was the culmination of years of preparation for him. Is this a recipe for success or what?

While we cannot say cooking a great meal for your family and training over 40 years for a single event can be compared to the task Captain Sullenberger III performed flawlessly, however preparation is key for any great out-come.

Generation G makes it clear that everyone should be giving back and is not afraid to extend their hand.

As a baby boomer and military member who gave back to our country all my life what more is required for those who will follow. Captain Sullenberger III gave back all his life too and I ask those who say otherwise please explain with a straight face.

Captain Sullenberger III, your dedication to your profession made a difference in the lives of 155 individuals and their families. Nothing compares to that one single event and Chris and I are proud you are a great American, a member of USAA and someone who cared about doing the right thing! What can we do for you?

May 30, <b>All That Tech Stuff</b>

It's been a while since our last update and while there has been no update, plenty has transpired!
<p>
Having full-time work in this economy is a blessing and I am grateful for the position and give 110 each day.
<p>
But, working does add to the personal stresses of taking care of our elderly. The worst part is someday we'll all be old.
<p>
We had to call the EMT's for Chris father as it has been a while since his stroke.
<p>
We all are in denial but for some of us denial is all we have left. Trying to convince a soon to be 87 year old that he should have a CT scan is like attempting to get a drug addict help for his habit; Its not going to happen until he is ready. It's a "catch 22" situation...
<p>
However, this writing is not about convincing the elderly what is good for them. They did something right to get old and by now you are thinking "how does my father-in-law relate to the title of this blog and Easy-Everyday-Cooking-Recipes?"
<p>
Let me explain...
<p>
What happened is our home network had been providing symptoms of catastrophic failure.
<p>
For weeks the response from the network had been sluggish, then it was good, then it would crash, and I ignored ALL OF the symptoms! Duh...
<p>
This all happened around the time my father-in-law was having stroke symptoms of feeling good one day, lingering headache then extreme dizziness and well, you know the rest.
<p>
When it got so frustratingly painful to work on the web I spent the little time I have troubleshooting the system, finally replacing my 11 year young cable modem.
<p>
Naturally I was in denial the entire troubleshooting time. How possibly could there be a failure of anything when I have all the safe-guards in place?
<p>
After a painful hour with the cable guy I went down to my local "big box" electronics store and purchased a new cable modem. It was the solution I painfully ignored.
<p>
As a tech person, I listen to users describing what is wrong and did what all of us do at one time or another fail to recognize symptoms. None-the-less it was a rewarding experience and now I am glad to say I am <b>"back on line."</b>
<p>
Those of you who have expressed making a link to Easy-Everyday-Cooking-Recipes please be patient. I look forward to working with you and will respond as quickly as possible.
<p>
Given all that has happened, is there a moral to this story? Sure... for me it was not seeing the forest for the trees. I needed a break. Ethical work habits are hard to break.
<p>
So with <b>all that tech stuff</b> behind how can I get my father-in-law to get a CT Scan?
<p>
So many things, so little time...Let me know. I'm MajorDadUSAR on Twitter

Chris and I are flat out this month. Work has been gruling and dinners are a flash in the pan so to speak. With so little time for cooking we have been using the basic cooking method of meat, vegetable and flavoring so we can get a meal on the table in 30 minutes or less.

Doing this requires a little meal planning, so check your grocery list and include 2 or 3 selections of fish, meat or poultry. Make sure you purchase in a quantity that can be split and frozen so you stretch your meal main selections while mixing it up throughout the week.

We are working on some quick meal selections for you so come back and visit us again. You never know what tastey morsel will be presented.

So here's to eating like a king on a beer budget. John & Chris

Apr 25, Building The Perfect Web Site is like Cooking the Perfect Meal!.

Preparing recipes is a lot like building a web site. You need ingredients (topics) and tools (computer, site building software) and an imagination.

We equate cooking and recipes with building a web site because what you cook and the result is usually to yours or your guests taste.

Our site, Easy Everyday cooking recipes was decided not because cooking is a
popular subject, it is, (eating a good meal is always on my mind...), when you
decide to build an informational web site you have to start somewhere.

We love cooking at home. Chris and I also wanted to bring back our original cook book we created years ago titled Recipes From Louise, Italian American style recipes handed down from generation to generation. Many of our close friends and family have tasted these meals over the years.

Our goal is to give anyone who wants, the opportunity to enjoy the meals that are a tradition in our family. We share a little bit of our family history so you understand the why. In addition we offer you the opportunity to share a recipe or two with others should you want. After all, we all enjoy a bit of diversity when it is our choice and what better way to join the conversation. This also offers us so many opportunities to learn from each other, make choices as opposed to having someone dictate what we like or dislike.

The platform we chose to create easy-everyday-cooking-recipes.net is one that has a brand all its own. A system of tools with video training and guidance insures your success.

The company never leaves your side and is always encouraging you to use what they call brain and motivation. Sounds like a recipe for success to us, and we feel it is the guidance needed for todays' Internet.

In addition, if you are an experienced web software user, SBI lets you use your design software while continuing to provide additional tools and guidance. This system definitely gives you results and reduces the clutter that haunts web design and Search Engine Optimization. Join us today and start a future that gives back.

Looking to your success, John and Chris

P.S. Click on the link below and discover why just build a web site when you could build a business that will fulfill your dreams.

Apr 18, Work Long Hours? - Grill Fast!

Spring is here and cooking can be held outdoors on the barbeque grill.

Where you cook and what you cook is totally up to you, and is a matter of picking your cooking tools and an easy everyday cooking recipe.

While during the winter, we cook on an electric range I for one prefer a Gas Grill.

While true grill lovers will say, using gas is not grilling, I say, when you are as busy as my spouse and I are, not using a fast flame focused grill wastes time and puts the temptation of raiding the refrigerator ahead of a tasty meal.

And, if you have children, getting them to eat after junk food is all over except for the shouting. Something I care to do without.

Now there is barbequing, flattop grilling, broiling just to name a few methods.

While these methods are used under various conditions, you need the right tool for the condition. This is where a simple oversight can become a disaster waiting to happen so consider the following helpful hints.

1.- Any cooking outdoors above ground level has town rules and ordnances that may need to be addressed, so visit your town hall and talk with the building inspector or fire Marshall.

2. Size You may want a grill that can feed an army, but if your grilling area is small it may end up in the back yard and too far from the kitchen table.

3. Dont like open flames look for an electric griddle on legs or a tabletop model.

Well, getting back to spring. Our gas grill gets a workout. And while I would love to continue this grilling conversation Chris and I continue to work full-time, take care of household chores and care for her elderly father, so here is my top secret marinade for Sirloin Steak Tips that will knock your socks off with flavor. Bon Appetit!

Dijon Marinade Surprise

3 oz Worcestershire sauce,
3 oz Extra Virgin Olive Oil,
1 Tbl Dijon Mustard,
2 oz Soy Sauce,
1 Tbl Garlic Powder,
Tsp Pepper, ground.

Mix dry ingredients together in mixing bowl large enough to hold your steak tips.

Mix in the Olive Oil, Soy sauce and Worcestershire.

Stir well until there are no clumps from the garlic power and pepper.

Add steak pieces until all are coated.

Let sit for 30 minutes stirring occasionally.

Fire up the grill until it is approximately 240 degrees.

Toss steaks on grill searing well on one side.

Continue to cook to your likeness.

Tip:

Substitute or add creamy Horseradish instead of Dijon mustard for additional
flavor.

Apr 11, Quality Meats Do Not Have To Cost You More!

In our previous article, we raved about using the Easy Shop system and how it is saving us money by keeping us on target for our shopping needs.

Well, we are still happy and excited about using it, because while using the Easy Shop system and after analyzing our grocery bills, we found that a good 25 percent to 35 percent of our bill was purchasing meats.

What we noticed, aside from the amount of money we were spending was the quality of the meats. Yes, all meats are USDA inspected (or supposed to be)but that does not guarantee great taste so we decided to do a test.

We found a small local market that had meat and produce.

At first, we thought their meat was considerably higher in price, but after a purchasing and taste comparison, we found something different.

Personally, I will eat most anything. As long as it has the taste I like it will be eaten it until it is gone. Not necessarily a good thing, but none-the-less, there will be no leftovers.

What we discovered is astounding! After eating the grocery store selections and now the local market selections, we found you do not have to eat the meats the giant super markets sell because it is supposed to be cheaper.

The astounding part is our meat cost on a weekly basis did not change. Not so astounding you say. Well, here is where it gets good. The quality, taste, and lean cuts of meat <b>did</b> change.

We also found particular meat products such as Italian sausage is superb. Now, I can just picture your face. Ewe, sausage is full of fat and gristle. What we found is a great tasting sausage where if there is gristle, we have not found it and as for fat, minimal!

However, the best part is smaller markets with a strong meat counter are the best place to go for quality beef, poultry, and pork. Their niche is the quality arena and while price is a consideration, their customers palate is more important.

In addition, while you may pay a bit more for a pound of ground beef, the quality of that pound will be so noticeable, you will not want to eat super market quality again.

Our recommendations are<p>

1. Use the Easy Shop system to purchase the staples where you can get the best price. <p>
2. Find a local market in your area with the quality of meat and produce you like and make the extra trip.<p>
3. The quality of meat is so different, your taste buds will thank you.

Apr 5, <p><font style="color:DarkRed;">A Recipe for Grocery Shopping Success.</font>

A while ago, the Stop and Shop Super markets installed the self-checkout system where you can bring your order to a self-serve checkout isle pay then bag your groceries yourself. This is a great customer self-serve concept that helps reduce store overhead costs and maybe saving you a little time in the grocery store.

Recently Stop and Shop installed their Easy Shop system that is a Radio Frequency (RF) hand scan gun where you scan your items and bag them as you go. Another great concept for the store, but this is even a better benefit for you, the customer, and here are two reasons why...

First, you control your shopping. By being able to see what you have selected and scanned into the gun, it is easier to stay on track with your shopping list.

Secondly, you can stay within your grocery budget. How many times have you said, why is my grocery bill so high? Well here is the answer!

When we were shopping without this recipe for grocery shopping success, our cart would look like we were feeding an Army. With only three adults in our household, we were always picking up items and putting them into the cart. After which, the food would be tucked in the back of the refrigerator where we would forget about the additional treats. We would then end up throwing away spoiled food on a weekly basis.

With food prices up, what a waste of money!

With the scan gun, we are able to stay within our budget and can overspend when we really want or have to.

I am sure this was billed as a cost-saving measure for the corporate suits, but I am not too sure they are realizing the full fall out. The store is relying on customers to be honest (just like we are relying on them to be ethical in business and our government officials to pay their taxes). So, maybe this is a win-win situation. Hmm... I think not!
