    <description>I would have just provided you the meatless version of Chris's Lasagna!

Well, you know Chris &amp; I are both meat lovers, and how can you blame us? And while my doc says lay off the red meat, how can you resist when you prepare and cook lasagna with so much love....?

Well, here is how and what I use for Chris's lasagna to make it a meat-lovers version, (sorry vegetarians I gave you first shot)....

1 - Pound of 90% Lean Ground Sirloin.

1/2 Pound of Ground Sweet Italian Sausage. 
(Make sure you find a market that finely grinds their sausage meat and uses little fat).

1 Whole Medium Sweet Onion.

Garlic powder, Salt and Pepper to taste.

Steam cook the sausage until done, then grind in your blender.

Saute the onion with 1 tablespoon Olive Oil until it sweats (turns translucent).

Add the ground sirloin and the ground sausage, salt, pepper and garlic to taste.

When fully cooked, drain and let cool then add it to the cheese layer.... Oh man, I'm so hungry... gotta go!

Would you print money to fill your checkbook if it meant handing the bill to your children?  I think not!  Common sense says otherwise... 

Now the Democrats are whining and making s____ up to make the Republican/Tea Party members look terrible in the eyes of all Americans.

What a shame.....The American Tax Payers want spending and mismanagement to end but like adolescents, the Democrats keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result from the tax payers!  Hmm.... sounds like the definition of insanity to me.... 

I am with the consensus the existing congress should all be ousted... but I digress....

    <description>Chris and I recently pulled out our old stereo we had stored away and decided to use it again.  The question was, “Is where we live now where we want to use it?”  

For the most part the answer was no, but after storing it since we moved we decided it was time we started living our lives again.  

We pulled the components, some of them over 20 years old, out of their boxes and started assembling.  Soon we had the stereo assembled. We connected it to our TV and started watching our old videos.

Our nostalgia got the best of  us and decided it would be great if our grandchildren new what it was like when their mother was growing up, so now we're sorting our old pictures, getting them ready to be digitized to pass on to our daughter and her family.  

We asked,  “Is this what we want to do?”  

It may not be for everyone, but if your pictures are piled in the basement like ours you might want to consider what we're doing.  

Is it time-consuming?  Yes, however we want our grandchildren to see our legacy and that we were young once too.  In addition they will see their Mom was once just like them.  

Case in point, our education system has dismissed so much of our U.S. History leaving our current generation without an understanding of what it took to make our country great.  Preserving our family history will help our grandchildren understand who they are, the kind of family they came from and that always striving for the brass ring is something our ancestors fought to guarantee for them and provided in our Constitution.

Yes, it is a project, but technology has advanced so much we now have the solution to the problem!

Look back on the history of seasonings, the Orient was the place to go for spices.  

Heavily contested sailing routes to the east was the norm, and many a ship passed to bring spices to Europe, not only for taste, but for preserving.  

Those who sailed west to the Americas brought with them the spices of the time.

With the advance of technology, today we use spice for flavor, not thinking of its use to preserve or for its nutritional value.

As America has grown each new nationality introduces dishes, spices and cooking methods that today serves as our new eating frontier.  And these spices are giving us incentive to cook like great chefs.

In a recent article in Science Daily(R), researchers are discovering that spices used in marinades and directly on our food may contain unforeseen health benefits. And the question is do we use more?

While the health benefits may be too new to tell, the spice that our forefathers used to aid in food preservation just might prove to be more beneficial than just adding a “pop” to our taste buds.

However, you know how research and studies go... Today something is bad then 10 years later the researchers tell you it is good, go figure... 

I guess we need be open minded and make our best eating choices based on our own decisions.

    <title>Nov 21, Too Late For Stuffing?</title>

    <description>Not a Chance!

Chris and I have been quite busy these past few months getting repairs done to our home that were overdue from the previous owners... Changed inside traffic pattern, outside windows/doors and painted living room, family room and now the sun room.  However.... we also have been busy preparing for Thanksgiving -- Cooked up a couple half turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc... you all know the drill, but, we have definitely decided that my Sausage Sage Stuffing deserves a spot at the table this thanksgiving and hey, I highly recommend it, so here is the recipe, and, if you would, let us know how it worked out for you.  

Also, we have added some great links too.  Check out our links page and our Aglio recipe.  We may have been lax on blogging, but not much else.  Enjoy and have a great Thanksgiving!

    <description>What America Means to me...

As we mourn the loss of life this 9/11, I would be remiss in not reminding everyone around the world, we still say “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breath free...”  

These words and others written by Emma Lazarus don the gateway to America.  

We the People, not we the German; Not we the Italian; Not we the Catholic; Not we the Jewish; Not we of any one race, creed or national origin, just We, the American people. 

Not we the Italian American or we the African American or we the Irish American or we the Muslim American.  Just We, the People and I quote - 

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”  

So as we remember this attack on America, stop and try not to over think what America is or is not.

There are those who put together theories as to what America is or should be, but our pledge of allegiance sums it up quite well.

And  while not in our constitution, our pledge of Allegiance specifically states we are One Nation “Under God.” This we discovered as we progressed as a nation...  “under God with liberty and justice for all.”  And, as the First Amendment so states, it allows us, THE PEOPLE to determine our God and assemble, not as a country or specific faith, but as individuals with protected freedoms. 

The pledge does however infer a number of things, such as to support and defend the constitution of the United States.  This is what it means to be an American, regardless of race, creed or national origin.

By learning the Declaration of Independence;  By assimilating to freedoms no other country in the world offers, one can achieve what is coined the “American Dream.”  

Our country may not be perfect, but by ALL OTHER STANDARDS, we are where the masses flock to.  

We are the country all other countries look to for aid and might.  

Because of our Declaration of Independence, we are a nation of laws.  Americans must not let those laws become so convoluted as to let the enemy within our country destroy what we have achieved.  

To protect our country and defend our Constitution, we vote.  (Remember to on 110210.)

We can say God Bless you and God Bless America without fear.  And eat to our hearts content!

We remember the fallen.  They are the ones now and in the future that must be honored.

We are Americans with heart and hope that tomorrow will be better than today, not just for us, but for all people on this place called earth.  Agree or not, this is what America means to me.</description>

    <title>Jun 13, It's GrillN, and ChillN Time, Again!</title>

    <description>Here we are again and, are we having fun yet?  We hope so....

Our new grill is getting such a workout during the week!  

This weekend has been a &quot;whirl-wind&quot; event....  

We traveled into Quincy from Cape Cod (78 miles 1-way), had a graduation luncheon at Marina Bay, zoomed from the bay to a wedding in Rockland, then traveled back to Cape Cod to do our part in a computer conversion (yes, we still work)... thank God our part went smoothly.

But, here is the best part, we hooked up with Sheila from Creative Salad Recipes to provide you, our friends, excellent additions to your summer-time grill'N. (Not that we want you to leave our site, but Sheila has some great ideas in the salad department, and we thought you would like a super salad to compliment your chicken, steak or burger on the grill!)

    <title>Apr 11, Polish Tragedy Reminds us why family values need to be cherished!</title>

    <description>The plane crash that took the lives of Polish President Kaczynski, his wife and 95 others is a tragedy and demonstrates why life is so fragile and people need each other and to account for their own actions.   

This also shows that small positve gestures can make the difference in peoples' lives and, evoke personal well-being and closure, not only in ourselves but others.

Our hearts go out to those who lost their family members from this tragedy and the event that lead to it, and to remind us all to pay it forward and do one selfless act for someone who enters your life, regardless of the circumstance.

Our -The Family- section of our site delinates how it relates and how food can bring us together as friends.
